01Our approach to safety
We combine clear rules, easy reporting, automated assistance and human review. No system catches everything, so reports from the community matter.
02Illegal content
We remove illegal content when we become aware of it, and take steps to reduce the risk of it appearing.
03User-generated content
Everything on Opinions is posted by users. We don’t review every post before it appears.
04Reporting
Every opinion, argument, reply and profile can be reported from its menu. See Reporting & Complaints.
05Blocking
Blocking other accounts is not yet available. It is planned. Until then, please report accounts that are targeting you.
06Muting
Muting is not yet available and is planned.
07Content moderation
Reported content is assessed against our Community Guidelines. See Moderation & Appeals.
08Serious threats
Credible threats are treated as a priority and may be shared with the police.
09Harassment
Report harassment and we’ll review the content and the account behind it.
10Hate
Hateful attacks on people are removed. Debate about difficult topics is not.
11Fraud and scams
Never send money or personal details to someone you met on Opinions. Report anything suspicious.
12Child safety
Opinions is not for young children. We ask for date of birth at sign-up and close accounts below our minimum age.
13CSEA / CSAM
Child sexual exploitation and abuse material is removed and reported to the relevant UK authorities. You can also report directly to the Internet Watch Foundation at iwf.org.uk.
14Terrorism and extremism
Terrorist content is removed and may be reported to the police. You can also report it to Counter Terrorism Policing via gov.uk/report-terrorism.
15Intimate-image abuse
Report it immediately. The Revenge Porn Helpline (0345 6000 459) can also help.
16Suicide and serious self-harm
Content encouraging suicide or self-harm is removed. If you are struggling, please contact Samaritans on 116 123, any time.
17Emergency situations
In an emergency
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. Opinions is not an emergency service and cannot send help.
18Cooperation with legally valid requests
We respond to legally valid requests from authorities and may share information to prevent serious harm.
19Appeals
You can ask us to look again at decisions about your content or account.
20Transparency
Reporters can see the status and outcome of their reports in their profile. We intend to publish transparency information as we grow.
21Online Safety Act
Opinions is a user-to-user service under the UK Online Safety Act 2023. We are working to meet our duties, including illegal content risk assessments, reporting and complaints procedures, and protecting children. [ADMIN: confirm risk assessment status and Ofcom contact point]
